Bio

Jeff Schneider is a native of Louisville, Kentucky who is happily married and the father of five. He’s a former college athlete who played basketball at Division I St. Louis University and Division II Bellarmine University. He holds two degrees in English and journalism and has a variety of stories about his life in sports as an athlete and working with athletes, coaches and the media.

As a former sports information director at the University of Louisville, Schneider handled public relations for national championship coaches Denny Crum and Howard Schnellenberger. He’s also responsible for Ford Ironman Louisville finding an annual spot in his hometown each August. Schneider recruited Ironman when he worked for the Louisville sports commission. The Ford Ironman Louisville went from an event his board didn’t intially embrace to now the world’s largest Ironman triathlon (2.4 mile swin, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run in 17 hours). He competed in the 2007 inaugural event and helped raise awarness to thyroid cancer research. He is a thyroid cancer victim, having survived a surgery in 2003 his doctor told him he wouldn’t.

While with the University of Louisville, Schneider worked with some of the NFL’s future big names, including David Akers, Ted Washington, Browning Nagle, Ray Buchanan, Sam Madison, Joe Johnson, Klaus Wilmsmeyer, Jeff Brohm, Mike Flores and many, many others. He also worked with numerous NBA names, including the likes of Pervis Ellison, Felton Spencer, LaBradford Smith,Clifford Rozier and others.

Schneider is also the author of two previous novels, The Fix and The Games. His third release, The Violation, a story about corruption in college football, will be out in August, just in time for the 2012 college football season.
